2024 The Year In Review

We began 2024 with a profound sense of confidence, fueled by our successes in 2023. Guided by the President's Charter and driven by the purest intentions, we set ambitious goals for 2024. With dedication and vision, GMOCO has successfully executed several initiatives, elevating our organization to new heights. We are proud to share these remarkable accomplishments:

GMOCO 2024 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Received a special recognition🏅 from theGovernor of the State of Ohiofor the 57th Annual Garba & Dandiya Festival. This prestigious acknowledgment highlights GMOCO's role in bridging cultures, generations, and communities.

Launched Gujarat Darshan🖼️ - a display of hi-resolution picture frames depicting places of significance in Gujarat and a life-size cut out of the Statue of Unity. The pictures highlight world heritage sites, national parks, monuments, Mandirs, nature, and the culture of Gujarat.

GMOCO became a certifying organization for the United States Presidential Volunteer Service Awards🎖️ (PVSA). The inaugural PVSA awards ceremony was held during the Diwali Gala 2024.

Increased membership by 14%📈 adding a record 43 life member families in 2024. નવા સભ્યો, 🙏🏽 તમારું હાર્દિક સ્વાગત છે! 

Proudly hosted six successful events for the Gujarati community, achieving a remarkable 35%⬆️ increase in attendance. Our commitment to excellence was reflected in the feedback, with over 90% of respondents expressing satisfaction⭐ or great delight🤩 with their experience at our events.

Achieved the Gold Seal of Transparency🪙 for non-profits on GuideStar. This certification will help GMOCO build trust amongst potential donors, enhance fundraising capabilities, improve visibility, demonstrate accountability, and boost public engagement.

Donated three boxes full of ✂️✏️📚school supplies 📏🖍️📒 via NBC’s Stuff The Backpack program during Picnic. Collected 300 lbs of canned food for the Sewa Diwali 🥫Food Collection Drive🍞during Diwali. We continued plastic recycling♻️ at our events and the Bring Your Own Bottle program.

Launched three new groups (Classifieds, ગુજરાતી સાહિત્ય, Events & Activities) in the GMOCO WhatsApp Community💬 to foster collaboration. A LinkedIn group was launched for Gujarati professionals to network.

The 57th Annual🌟Garba & Dandiya Festival witnessed unprecedented attendance, marking a significant milestone for our organization. The featured artist, Vatsala Patil, was honored🎖️by the Mayor of Columbus for her contributions as a global influencer of Gujarati folk music.

Represented the State of Gujarat in the Bharat 🇮🇳 Showcase at FIA India Festival 2024. GMOCO presented a 10-minute upbeat performance highlighting the folk dances of Gujarat with 50+ participants. The performance was attended and supported by 11 past GMOCO presidents.

A national Gujarati organization acknowledged the framework for GMOCO’s Gujarati Competition - Public Speaking🎙️(વક્તૃત્વ), Essay✒️(નિબંધ), and Art (ચિત્ર)🎨.

Partnered🫱🏽‍🫲🏾 with FIA and supporting organizations to expand GMOCO’s reach to 40+ Indian associations in Central Ohio. Expanded GMOCO’s social media reach📢 to over 35 groups on Facebook and 25 groups on Instagram.

None of these accomplishments would have been achievable without the efforts and dedication of: Executive Committee, General Committee, Board of Trustees, Nomination Committee, Constitution Committee, Volunteers, Sponsors, Supporting Organizations, Event Vendors, Booth Vendors, Performers, Choreographers, Parents, and our Community.
